We Need You

We're trying to raise money for RP Fighting Blindness this year.

Liz drew the short straw and had to sign up for the final fundraising stunt in October - going up Everest (to Base Camp, they say it's a tad easier than the top).

Of course it should have been Anne. since she's already gone up Killi-mun-thingummy jig and isn't scared of heights. But she had a poor excuse ... like having a 2-year old child, or something like that.

So in an effort to get in the mood, we are organising a sort of big party, come-along-and-hang-out affair. It will take place at Muir Cottage, the Cairngorm Clubhouse, in Braemar on the weekend of 1st August 2009. And if you're worried about your fitness, waistline, age, looks, etc, you can join in a 10km Mar Estate Walk/Run at 12 pm on 1st. Just come and join in, "you, yourself, you". (Oh, and of course all your dependants ... babies, cats, husbands, grans, girlfriends, etc).

But ... if you also want to help with our fundraising efforts you can also choose to ask a few people to sponsor you. Details / sponsor forms, below.

For Big Kids and Little Kids

There are lots of hills for walks a stone's throw away from Muir Cottage for Big Kids (see here).

More importantly, bring your little kids and we'll organise some sports for them. See what we have planned here. If they want to get sponsorship to complete one or a group of races, then that's great too. But obviously the main aim will be FUN, FUN and more FUN. (Let's hope the rain stays off!!!)

Sleeping and Getting There

Muir Cottage bunkhouse sleeps 22. We have made a block booking (thanks Anne!) If you want to stay the night of 31 July and 1st August, you're welcome. The cost per night, which ranges from free to £5 to £10 depending on who you are(!), is listed on the Muir Cottage website. Email liz.s.cassidy@gmail.com to arrange.

Alternatively, if you want a bit of peace and quiet, there is lots of accommodation listed on the Braemar Guide. Anyone got any recommendations? And of course there are local campsites.

Getting to Muir Cottage (known as Muir of Inverey) is easy. It is on the north side of the Linn of Dee road, 8km west of Braemar, 1km beyond the bridge over the River Ey, just before the road comes to the river (OS grid reference 076896).

Sponsor forms

If you need a sponsor form for either the 10km walk / run, or for kids sports, please email liz.cassidy@edpnet.be, and Liz will send you one. Or you can download the KIDS' sponsor form here, and the GROWN-UPS' sponsor form here
.

Last Thing ...

All musicians and people claiming to be musicians welcome ...
